O&G Job Fair gets positive response

THE five-day Oil and Gas Service Sector Job Fair 2011 received great public response, especially jobseekers, as it came to a close yesterday with more than 5,000 curriculum vitae (CV) were received from jobseekers.

"(This sets) the number of total CV received at over 5,500 over the last five days and at least twice as much visitors, underlining the emphatic and encouraging response from the public to the unprecedented oil and gas employment showcase," said a statement received from Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP) yesterday.

Since it was launched on December 13, the job fair began from 12pm to 8pm. 

The job fair which was launched on December 13, was sponsored by oil and gas operators and service companies in the industry, targeted to recruit about 1,000 workforce in the Sultanate by 2012. 

In an interview with the event's Media and Publicity Staff, Suriani Garip said a total of 79 companies in the industry, nine of which are oil and gas operators in the country, participated in the fair.

Due to an encouraging number of jobseekers coming to the fair, the number of walk-in interviews had to be increased from only six booths on the first day to 13 booths.An exhibitor representing Seadrill Sdn Bhd Chia Kok Vei said that at least 637 people have signed the guestbook.
